Firstly, put the alphabet applique patch sew on the position you want to stick. The side with hot melt glue is attached to the clothes (the glue cannot be torn off), and the upper layer is covered with cloth which prevent the clothes from damaging. For preheating the iron, just iron it from the upper of the cloth for 10 to 20 seconds makes it fixed. Also can use needle to fix the position of cloth before ironing to avoid its migration. Then turn the fixed position of the patch together with the clothes (or other fabric), ironing 30-60 seconds to ensure glue melts and the patch glue is firmly attached to the clothes (or other textiles). Finally, iron the front side for 1-2 minutes and mainly iron its edge and angle to ensure that the surface is smooth with the garment.
